Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and spectral properties of Gd2O3:[Eu.sup.3+] nanocrystals
Article Abstract:
Three nonequivalent centers of [C.sub.s] (A, B, and C) in monoclinic phase and C2 and S6 centers in cubic phase are identified in the Gd2O3:[Eu.sup.3+] nanocrystals with spectral techniques. Size dependence in the spectra indicated that the excitations from both host and charge-transfer band (CTB) for the [super 5][D.sub.0] -> [super 7][F.sub.2] transition of [Eu.sup.3+] ions are nearly equal for a larger size of 135 nm of the cubic phase.

Probing water interactions and vacancy production on gadolinia-doped ceria surfaces using electron stimulated desorption
Article Abstract:
Water interactions and vacancy production on gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC) surfaces were investigated by threshold and temperature-dependent electron-stimulated desorption measurements. H(super +), H3O(super +), and O(super +) are the primary cationic desorption products with H+ as the dominant channel.

Preparation and characterization of two new water-soluble endohedral metallofullerenes as magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents
Article Abstract:
The synthesis and characterization of two new water-soluble Gd-containing endohedral metallofullerenes is described. The fullerenes could be used as next-generation high-efficiency magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents.
